    Overview

This article addresses privacy concerns related to the setup and access control of 3DScope II people counters, particularly regarding the live video feature and default login credentials. It provides steps to enhance security while maintaining system functionality during calibration sessions.

    Why Privacy Matters

3DScope II counters include a video component for troubleshooting and accuracy verification, but in many cases, organizations prefer to disable this feature for privacy reasons. Additionally, during setup and calibration, access to default credentials is sometimes necessary to complete the process efficiently. This article explains how to secure the device post-setup to align with privacy requirements.

Access Control & Default Credentials in Calibration

During a remote calibration session, a Storetraffic support representative may require the default login credentials to guide the user through the setup. This ensures a smooth process when remote access is unavailable. The expectation is that the person providing the screenshare has the authority to access the device during the session.

To mitigate concerns about ongoing internal access, it is recommended to change the default credentials immediately after setup.

How to Secure the 3DScope II Counter

    1. Change Default Passwords Post-Calibration

Step 1 - Log in to the Counter:

    1. Log in to T.M.A.S.
      • Open your web browser and go to your T.M.A.S. login page.
      • Enter your credentials and sign in.
    2. Select the Location
      • In the Location Options section (top left), choose the location where the 3DScope II counter is installed.
    3. Navigate to Equipment Inventory
      • In the Main Menu, click Administration (📌 Step 2 in the image).
      • Under Administration, select Equipment Inventory (📌 Step 3 in the image).
    4. Find the 3DScope II Counter
      • In the Equipment Inventory, locate the 3DScopeII IP devices (📌 Step 4 in the image).

    5. Check the Device Communication Settings
      • In the Edit a 3DScope IP screen, navigate to the Comm. Counts tab (📌 Step 5 in the image).
      • Here, you will find both the Public IP and Private IP of the counter (📌 Step 6 in the image).
    6. Use the IP Address to Access the Counter
      • If accessing from the same network as the counter, use the Private IP.
      • Open a web browser and enter: http://[Private_IP]
      • Log in using the provided credentials to make necessary changes.

Step 2: Navigate to User Management

    1. In the left menu, click Service Tools (Labeled as â‘  in Image 1).
    2. Scroll to the User Management section on the right.

🔹 Best Practice: Keep the new credentials stored securely and limit access only to authorized personnel.

    2. Disabling the Video Feature for Privacy

If video streaming is not required, follow these steps to disable it:

    1. Navigate to Service Tools
    2. Select Delete License
    3. Select Video Recording in dropdown.
    4. Press Delete

⚠ Important: Removing the video license may impact future troubleshooting. If the device requires support, a new video license will need to be requested from Storetraffic’s hardware partner, which could delay issue resolution.

    Key Takeaways for Privacy Protection

    • Calibration sessions require access to default credentials, but passwords should be changed immediately afterward.
    • Removing the video license ensures no unintended live video access.
    • Limiting user accounts in T.M.A.S. prevents unauthorized access to visitor data.
