Connecting Claude or ChatGPT to T.M.A.S. (MCP BETA Connector)
The T.M.A.S. connector lets an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT work with your T.M.A.S. data directly in a conversation. Once connected, you can ask questions about traffic, sales, occupancy, campaigns and more, and, if your permissions allow it, add or update data.
This article explains how to add the connector, what the consent screen means, and how permissions work.
No API key is needed. You sign in with your normal T.M.A.S. username and password, then approve the connection.
Plan requirements: Custom connectors are not available on every Claude or ChatGPT plan. On Claude Team and Enterprise plans, an organization owner may need to add the connector before other members can use it.
Adding the connector in Claude
These steps apply to Claude on the web (claude.ai), the desktop app and the mobile app.
6. Sign in with your T.M.A.S. credentials and complete the consent screen.
7. Select the TMAS connector in a conversation to start using it.
Using the connector
Once the connector is set up and authorized, make sure it is enabled in your conversation, then ask questions in plain language. The assistant pulls the data from T.M.A.S. for you.
Example questions:
Which location had the highest traffic yesterday?
How many transactions did each store have last week?
Compare this month's traffic to the same month last year for my region.
What was the conversion rate at the downtown store on Saturday?
Which marketing campaigns are currently running?
The assistant can only answer using the locations and data areas you approved on the consent screen and that your T.M.A.S. permissions allow.
Adding or Editing Data
If you granted Add & edit access, you can also ask the assistant to make changes, for example to add a special event or update a marketing campaign. Before any change is written, the assistant shows a preview of the action and the details it will send to T.M.A.S. Always review this preview carefully before approving it. Check the location, dates and values to confirm they are correct.
Important: This is an AI tool, and AI can make mistakes. Always review any information the assistant provides before relying on it, and always review any changes before approving them to be written to T.M.A.S.
Privacy and security
The assistant acts as you. It works with your T.M.A.S. permissions, never more, and possibly less, depending on what you approved on the consent screen.
Your password stays with T.M.A.S. Sign-in happens on the T.M.A.S. website. Your T.M.A.S. password is never shared with Claude or ChatGPT.
Locations are referred to by name. Internal location IDs are never shown.
Your AI provider processes the data. Data sent to the assistant is processed by Anthropic (Claude) or OpenAI (ChatGPT) under your organization's own agreement with that provider.
Every edit must be confirmed. No change is written to T.M.A.S. without an explicit confirmation step.
Understanding the consent screen
After you sign in, T.M.A.S. displays a consent page (available in English, French and Spanish). It asks you to make choices.
1. Which data areas the assistant can View / Add & Edit
For each data area, choose No access, View or Add & edit (where offered). Add & edit includes View.
How permissions work
The connector can never do more than you can do in T.M.A.S.
The consent screen always lists every data area, regardless of your account's permissions. It shows what the assistant is allowed to ask for, not what you are allowed to do. Your actual T.M.A.S. user permissions are checked on every request the assistant makes.
For example, if your T.M.A.S. account has view-only access to sales data and you select Add & edit for Sales, Transactions & Staffing on the consent screen, the assistant will still only be able to view sales data. Any attempt to add or edit will be refused.
In short, the connection's access is the more restrictive of the two:
what you approved on the consent screen, and
what your T.M.A.S. user permissions allow.
If you need additional access, contact your T.M.A.S. administrator to have your user permissions updated.
