How to Reassign a T.M.A.S. Device Without Losing Traffic Data

Introduction

This article explains how to disable a device in T.M.A.S. (Traffic Management and Analytics System) and reassign it to a new location without losing historical traffic data. This process is particularly useful when relocating a device while maintaining traffic records

Steps

1. Navigate to Equipment Inventory
     - From the main menu, go to Administration 
2. Configure > Equipment Inventory
3. Select the Device
     - Locate and select the device by its label
4. Edit Device Settings
     - Click on the device's label to open its settings.
     - Under the "Comm" tab, you will see options for communication settings.
5. Reset the Device for Reassignment
     - Scroll down to the "Reset to Other" checkbox and check the box (as seen in the image provided).
     - This will free up the MAC address of the device, making it available for reassignment to another location without losing traffic data.
6. Submit the Changes  
     - Click the Submit button to save the changes. The device is now ready for use at a different location.

Important Notes 

• Historical Traffic Data: By not removing the device, you will continue to be billed for it, as its historical traffic data will still be accessible for reporting.

Additional Information

• What happens if you remove a device?  
   If you remove a device from the equipment inventory, all traffic data collected by that device will no longer be available in T.M.A.S. for reporting.
• Zapping Traffic Data 
   Removing a device will "zap" or delete its historical traffic data, so use this option cautiously. No additional devices will be billed using this option.
