Discover how the Retail Equation report in the StoreTraffic app helps optimize store performance and enhance customer insights.
Table of Contents
The Retail Equation report in the Storetraffic app helps retailers understand how customer traffic and conversion rates impact sales performance. Using the formula Traffic × % Sold = Sales, you can model revenue outcomes, evaluate growth opportunities, and run "what-if" scenarios before making operational changes.
Because customer traffic and purchasing behavior often follow predictable patterns, adjusting key performance factors can help improve sales results and support more informed business decisions.
The report also includes conversion rate (% Sold), average transaction value, and revenue estimates based on your traffic data.
Access Requirements
- Free and Standard plan users can use the report by manually entering sales figures.
- Retail plan users with a POS integration will have sales data imported automatically.
- Results are available at the location level. Single-device views do not provide meaningful Retail Equation metrics.

What-if modeling
Each factor card (Traffic, Transactions, % Sold, Average sale) has a stepper and an editable value. Change one and the dependents recalculate — this is a local "what if" scenario. Tap Reset All to restore the measured values.
Important: Editing the steppers never changes your real data — it's modeling only.
Notes
- Retail Equation requires the advanced T.M.A.S. license. to bring in your automated POS integration data.
- Results are location-level only — single-device views don't show meaningful Retail Equation figures.
- Factor edits are local modeling only and do not write to your account or affect historical data.
