    • A smartphone with Wi-Fi enabled and Location permissions available

    Permissions Required

To add a new device, you must be the initial account owner (Free app) or have Chain and User permissions in the T.M.A.S. cloud application.

    Network Requirements

    Pearl requires a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.

    Pearl will not connect to:

    • 5GHz-only networks
    • WPA3-only networks
    • WPA2/WPA3 Enterprise networks
    • Networks that require a web page login (captive portals)

    Add a new device (Pearl)

Device type picker — Pearl and 3D Scope
    1. From the Devices list, tap + Add Device and select Pearl.
    2. Allow/Grant the required permissions (WiFi, Location, and Nearby WiFi Devices on Android 13+; Local Network on iOS).

    Step 1 — Package contents

    Step 0 — package contents

      • (Already installed and aligned? Tap WiFi Configuration to skip directly to the Wi-Fi setup step.)

    Step 2 — Power on

    Step 1 — power on
    1. Pull the battery tabs on both sensors. (Only setup one set of sensors at a time to avoid setup conflicts with the Wi-Fi programming).

    Step 3 — Installation height

    Step 2 — installation height
    1. By installing Pearl at a lower height, you can decide if children will be counted.  Indicate if you would like to count Adults only, or Adults and Children to view the setup instructions depending on the choice.

    Step 4 — Mount type

    Step 5 — Door installation

Step 4 — door installation instructions

    Before you continue

Some anti-theft pedestals and fully automatic doors use infrared sensors that may interfere with Pearl during setup. Most customers can continue normally. If your entrance uses infrared sensors, review the special instructions before continuing.

    1. Select Continue Installation

Step 6 — Activate Setup Mode

    Step 5 — activate device
    1. Enable setup mode by pressing the hidden button on the Main sensor (M with white dot on top) for 5 seconds until the light is solid.  (Note this light should stay on until the end of the wifi configuration step or after a 10-min time out).

    Step 7 — Alignment check

    Count Adults Only

    Step 6 — alignment check
    1. Start by peeling the adhesive backing and mounting the Secondary (S) sensor on the right side of the entrance, 1 inch from the corner. Install it so that the bottom of the sensor is 54 inches above the ground.

    2. Next, place the Main (M) sensor on the left side of the entrance, also 1 inch from the corner and 54 inches above the ground. Adjust its position until the LED turns solid green.

    3. Tap Next to continue.

*NOTE: Left and right are determined while standing inside the store and facing outward toward the entrance.

    Count Adults and Children

    Step 6 — alignment check

Once setup is complete, the Pearl will appear in your Devices list and begin communicating with the cloud.

    Network Requirements

    5GHz-only networks
These Wi-Fi networks operate only on the 5GHz frequency band. Many IoT devices, including Pearl devices, require a 2.4GHz connection and cannot see or join a 5GHz-only network. If one is selected the message on the left will appear, if you select continue anyway and the Pearl flashed a 3 red light error for a network issue - refer the following guide - pearl-troubleshooting-communication-led-status

    WPA3-only security
WPA3 is the newest Wi-Fi security standard. If a network is configured to allow only WPA3 connections, devices that support only WPA2 cannot connect.

    WPA2/WPA3 Enterprise
Enterprise networks use advanced authentication methods (such as usernames, certificates, or RADIUS servers) that are common in businesses, schools, and hospitals. Pearl devices are designed for standard home/business Wi-Fi (Personal mode) and cannot authenticate on Enterprise networks.

Networks with a login page (captive portals)
These networks require users to open a web page and accept terms, enter credentials, or provide other information before internet access is granted (common in hotels, airports, guest Wi-Fi, and coffee shops). Pearl devices cannot complete these browser-based login steps.

Compatible network setup for Pearl devices:

    2.4GHz Wi-Fi enabled

WPA2-Personal security (or WPA2/WPA3 mixed mode)

    No captive portal/login page

Standard home or small business Wi-Fi network configuration

IMPORTANT: If you're unsure what type of network you have, contact your IT provider or internet provider before continuing.

Step 10 - Connecting to Device

    1. During this step the Storetraffic app will perform the following checks and tasks
      • Scan to make sure the Pearl access point is still enabled
      • Connect to the Pearl
      • Confirm its connection
      • Collect its Information
      • Send the Wi-Fi name and password to the Pearl
      • Confirm cloud communication and assign the device to the location

    Notes

    • A newly added Pearl can take up to ~2 hours before its first data appears in reports — this is normal.
    • Pearl sensors rest outside your store's business hours — they'll show "Outside business hours" instead of Healthy during closed periods.
    • Installation height must be accurate 54" for Adults Only, 24" for Adults and Children — an incorrect measurement will affect count accuracy.
    • Adding a device requires write access.
