    Overview

The L bracket kit lets you mount the Outdoor 3D Scope II LC on a ceiling or a wall, with the sensor level and facing straight down. The same parts are used for both setups. What changes is how the arm is oriented and which side of the L adapter it attaches to.

Note: This L bracket kit is a third-party product. SMS doesn't make or sell it, but many customers have used it successfully with the Outdoor 3D Scope II LC.

    What you'll need

The kit doesn't include hardware for fixing the arm to the ceiling or wall.

    Bring:

    • 3 screws and anchors suited to the mounting surface (concrete, brick, wood or siding)
    • A drill and bits for the anchors
    • A Phillips screwdriver
    • A wrench or socket for the hex nuts
    • The Outdoor 3D Scope II LC, already installed in its outdoor camera mounting kit

    Ceiling mounting

Use the arm as it comes out of the box. The swivel mount attaches to the vertical side of the L adapter.

    1. Place the flat (horizontal) side of the L adapter on top of the outdoor camera mounting kit.
    2. Fasten it with 4 of the bolts and hex flange nuts through the slots (figure 1 below). Tighten them firmly.
    3. Attach the arm's swivel mount to the vertical side of the L adapter with the remaining 2 bolts and nuts (figure 2 below).
    4. Hold the arm's base plate against the ceiling and mark its 3 holes.
    5. Drill the holes, fit the anchors, and screw the base plate to the ceiling.
    6. Aim the sensor straight down, then lock the position (see below).

    Wall mounting

For a wall, flip the arm first, then attach the swivel mount to the horizontal side of the L adapter.

As shipped, the arm's base plate has 2 holes at the bottom and 1 at the top. A wall mount needs 2 at the top and 1 at the bottom.

Arm as shipped, with base plate holes marked
    1. Unscrew the pivot bolt in the centre of the round disc that joins the arm to the swivel mount.
    2. Turn the arm over and line the disc back up on the swivel mount.
    3. Refit the pivot bolt and tighten it. The base plate should now have 2 holes at the top and 1 at the bottom.

    6. Aim the sensor straight down, then lock the position (see below).

    Lock the position

Once the sensor is level and facing straight down, tighten both bolts on the swivel mount so it can't shift:

    • Pan bolt: centre of the round disc. It controls left and right rotation.
    • Tilt bolt: side of the curved bracket. It controls the up and down angle.
